Mrs. Gaines is a North Shelby graduate--1981. She attended Northeast Missouri State University for two of her degrees (B.S.E. and M.A) and Northwest Missouri State University for her Specialist in Education degree. 

She began (1989) her teaching career in the Renick R-V School District where she taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Language Arts and Computer Literacy for a semester. Her next seven years (1989-1996) were in the Atlanta C-3 School District where she served as the district librarian and taught English classes for junior high and high school students (5 years) and began her administrative career as the district's principal (2 years). 

Mrs. Gaines had the opportunity to come back to her alma mater as the high school principal in 1996.  "Once a Raider, Always a Raider!" was her closing line at graduation ceremonies the twelve years she spent as the high school principal (1996-2008). In 2008, she took a Central Office position in the Fort Osage School District near Independence, Missouri, where she served as the district's Director of Curriculum and Assessment for three years. In 2011, she was hired as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in the Moberly School District.  

This is her 14th year at North Shelby, and she is proud to be serving as the district's Superintendent.  

Mrs. Gaines has been married to Brent for 34 years, and they have one son, Scott and daughter-in-law, La'Costa. She loves spending time with her two grandsons--Jagger and Daxon--and in her spare time she can be found at school activities, reading, or exercising.
